Done! about 4 hrs worth of work and a few days in between trying to make sense of the madness. Tried a new style a la Andrew Jones and I think it worked for me. That along with a little Michaelangelo inspiration made for a pretty interesting piece I think. Not bad for learning it on my own. I'm excited to see what I can do next, as each one is getting better as I go. See below for a process of how it came along...

Trying something new

4)Ok, 1 final revision now I'm done. Bicep was too big, colors were wrong on the arms and threw in some stars for more of a defining " were in space" thing...

3)Finally done. I think it turned out alright for my first try.

2)Turned the image 90 degrees and used an overlay layer to darken it up and create more of a mood. Now I'm kind of getting a cosmos feel for it. I'm thinking with whats already going on in the piece, a little imagery to introduce a divine figure and maybe a creation of life pic?

1)Trying a new style of painting. Mass confusion using different paper textures and patterns to create a mess of depth. Now I'm looking for something from within this picture to draw inspiration from and finish off the painting. I'll post the completed image soon!

Marvel post

So, I started drawing as a kid from my comic books. I thought this would be a fun one to try. This was one of my first attempts to do a picture from start to finish in Painter x with my Wacom tablet. Yeah, I know, still a geek!

Cory's first post.

I am going to use this blog to start keeping track of my artistic process. I am fascinated and inspired by the new digital art being produced these days with a computer, tablet and different art programs available. I've recently started to dabble in this (very intimidating) medium and would love some feedback as I go. I will post some things shortly, but, here is an old oil on canvas I did years ago to kick things off. More to come soon..........
